Derby company’s David-and-Goliath dispute with Microsoft will give us the answer
Rozenberg - When does an electronic court close?
A senior judge is to consider whether it’s too late to file a civil appeal after 4.30pm, when the courts traditionally close for the day.
In the past, there was no way of lodging documents or paying court fees once the court office had lowered its shutters. Now, though, court documents must be filed electronically, with fees paid online. That can normally be done at any time.
The issue arose in a dispute between ValueLicensing, a company in Derby that acts as a software broker, and Microsoft Corporation, the world’s leading software company.
