Software reseller ValueLicensing has submitted an application for summary judgment before the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) seeking orders striking out parts of Microsoft’s amended defence in the standalone damages claim against the tech giant, a press release announced.

Software reseller ValueLicensing has submitted an application for summary judgment before the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) seeking orders striking out parts of Microsoft’s amended defence in the standalone damages claim against the tech giant, a press release announced. 

In April 2021, ValueLicensing lodged a GBP 270m damages claim against Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft Limited in the UK, and Microsoft Ireland Operations before the High Court claiming that the tech giant abused its dominant position by imposing contractual clauses to restrict the resale of perpetual licences.
